While these AI's can be valuable in the classroom, you would need tune the input and response properly, including promp-engineering the input you give for each student to receive individualised report card comments. Using a tailor-made product like SchoolReportAI streamlines the input you have to provide and gives fine-tuned responses straight out of the box, without any customisation needed. You still have the option to adjust the responses, either by using the quick actions presented on the screen, or by manually editing the response text.
We'd recommend using a product tailor-made for this purpose and not a generic LLM as this streamlines the input required for each student. Next you need to ensure that the tool you select allows you to really customise the input you provide for each student so that the generated comments are appropriate for each individual student. Lastly you need to think if you want a product that is going to integrate with your school's system, or just provide you with the generated comment and allow you to then copy-paste the comment wherever you need it. You also need to ensure that the product you're using maintains the privacy of the students and that their personally identifiable information (PII) doesn't become part of the AI's learning data.
While some tools might provide integration to school management systems, we think it might be best to not implement such a solution.
